Introduction

 

You like Italian wines and drink wine on a regular basis.  You are fed up with the high costs of wines in the UK.  You may also be confused by the wide variety of Italian wines and don’t know where to turn for sound advice.  You want to try something different from what is offered by your local supermarket.

Who are we

 

We are two experienced wine professionals with over 30 years experience in the trade.  Vassil Rachkov has formerly run Easy Wines and Wine of Course,  two wine shops specialising in the unusual and exotic, including a range of high quality wines from his native Bulgaria and a selection of interesting Italian wines from the lesser known appellations.  He has also lectured on food and wine at Le Cordon Bleu in London and has run wine courses and tastings.  He is permanently based in Norfolk in the UK.

 

Heiko Vermeulen has worked for various independent wine merchants in the UK in a senior role, before leaving for the sunny shores of Italy in 2004.  There he has helped a number of small producers find importers in the UK and other parts of Europe and is running popular wine tastings for tourists and the local ex-pat community.  He is permanently based in Liguria, Italy, right on the border to Tuscany.

 

The Producers are a select group of carefully chosen, small, preferably family run, quality-orientated wineries.  We will be looking at between 5-10 producers at any one time, from varying regions in the north and centre
